From humble beginnings

Our story begins long before Saltspring Soapworks did: Four generations ago with a grandmother and a farm. Using beef tallow and ash, she handcrafted soap—a legacy that was handed down to her granddaughter and our founder, Linda Quiring. The simplicity of our beginnings remains the essence of our remedies today.

With daily use, our 115g lotion tube typically lasts 1–2 months depending on how liberally you apply. The shelf life is excellent when stored properly.

Our body lotions are formulated for hands and body. For facial care, please use our dedicated Face Care Collection products, which are lighter and tailored for facial skin needs.

Our lotions offer a light to medium texture that absorbs readily, leaving skin soft and protected without residue. Perfect under clothing or for use throughout the day.

Our lotions have pleasant, natural essential oil scents that are noticeable but not overpowering. Many people enjoy them as a light fragrance layer. If you prefer unscented or have sensitivities, our simpler options or patch testing is recommended.

Daily use, ideally after showering or bathing and whenever skin feels dry. A little goes a long way—start with a small amount and massage it in. Consistent use helps maintain soft, supple skin.

Yes. Our formulas with Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter (Lavender Shea Butter, Comfrey Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter Rose) are especially nourishing for dry skin, elbows, hands, and feet. Apply after washing or bathing while skin is still slightly damp for best absorption and to lock in moisture.

We design complementary lines: Rosemary Mint Lotion pairs perfectly with the Rosemary Mint Wash or Soap Bar for an invigorating full-body routine. Lavender Shea Butter Lotion complements Lavender washes etc. for calming. Rhubarb Citrus Lotion offers a refreshing match for citrusy or fruity scents. Feel free to mix and match based on your mood or skin needs.

Our lotions feature moisturizing butters (shea, cocoa), oils (sweet almond, etc.), and humectants. They are designed to absorb quickly and provide lasting hydration without a heavy or greasy feel. Many customers describe them as luxurious yet lightweight.

Strange scent

I will be honest, I'm not crazy about this scent. It is very light first off but to my nose it smells like a lotion thats been in a plastic tube for years like its outdated. I dont really smell any lemon or coconut scent at all. But the consistency of the lotion is great. It rubs in well and leaves no greasy feeling. I love the actual lotion, my nose just doesn't like this scent. I will definitely try another scent.

The smell!

I am having a very hard time with the smell of this product - I resorted to only putting it on my feet and need to wash my hands directly after - even with putting it on my feet - the smell lingers and I have a hard time using this particular scent

The best smelling lotion ever !!

I have been using this hand lotion since April when i was over on Saltspring Island. I now continue to order online and have it delivered to Alberta. It's always a quick delivery and packed well. The texture is great not sticky at all and the smell is to die for. I love it and hope Saltspring Soapworks keeps it on their 'menu' :)
