Our story begins long before Saltspring Soapworks did: Four generations ago with a grandmother and a farm. Using beef tallow and ash, she handcrafted soap—a legacy that was handed down to her granddaughter and our founder, Linda Quiring. Yes! All our washes are formulated without sodium lauryl sulfate or other harsh sulphates. We use mild, plant-based surfactants (alkylpolyglucosides and cocamidopropyl betaine) that cleanse effectively while being kind to skin and the planet. Many include soothing herbal blends and hydrating ingredients like white camellia extract and hyaluronic acid.

We offer a range of uplifting and soothing scents: Rosemary Mint (herbaceous, crisp, cooling, invigorating), Lavender Eucalyptus (soothing, hydrating, calming), Cypress Fir (calming, grounding), Lemongrass Orange (rejuvenating, fresh, citrusy), Rose Ginseng (nourishing, soothing), Mango Lime (fresh, cleansing), and others that are more seasonal like Cranberry Orange or Vanilla Frankincense. Each is crafted primarily with essential oils for an authentic
aromatic experience.

Apply a small amount to wet hands or body, lather, and rinse. They perform well in most water conditions. The 1L and 4L sizes are perfect for refilling for family showers or sinks—add our dedicated pumps for mess-free dispensing. Travel sizes are ideal for gym bags or carry-on.

Our washes are primarily formulated for hands and body. While gentle, they may be too cleansing or have essential oil concentrations better suited for body use than on facial skin. For face, we recommend our dedicated Face Care Collection (cleanser, toner, creams, serum).

Standard (~500mL), Travel Size, 1 Liter, and 4 Liter refills. The larger sizes offer excellent value for regular users or households and reduce packaging waste and offer greater value per liter. Pair 1L/4L with our matching pumps for easy use. Many customers start with the standard 500ml size to try a new scent.

No—they are designed to be hydrating. Formulas include vegetable glycerine, hemp seed oil, panthenol (vitamin B5), and other moisturizing ingredients that help leave skin clean yet soft and cared-for, not tight or dry.

Yes, our washes are biodegradable and made with an emphasis on being easy on your hands, body, and the planet. The plant-derived surfactants and natural ingredients support this commitment.

The More Natural Option

Im rating mostly because of the ingredients list. A lot of natural oils that are good for the skin, along with things like hyluronic acid and much more. Its a bit pricey but I supposed the ingredient list itself makes up for the price. I dont mind having no bubbles and suds in a body wash. I just want to make sure that the thing im putting on my body is actually good.
