Our Story

From humble beginnings

Our story begins long before Saltspring Soapworks did: Four generations ago with a grandmother and a farm. Using beef tallow and ash, she handcrafted soap—a legacy that was handed down to her granddaughter and our founder, Linda Quiring. The simplicity of our beginnings remains the essence of our remedies today.

Since 1979, our ingredients have been naturally sourced or ethically engineered. We don’t greenwash, we just do our best to do what’s best—for people and planet. We source organically when we can, craft every product by hand in small batches, and never test on animals.
